Digital Tech.

I believe digital technology did change how we understand what writing is, yet I don't think it's too big of a change. I believe the biggest change would be that before digital technology a person might not have considered a 100 character tweet as a piece of writing. Same thing with a text message or a Facebook post. However, nowadays a short text or post is the majority of writing a person does everyday. Compared to a note, a text message might not seem like it's different, but digital technology didn't only change the medium in which we write. Digital technology has also created a new language. The shortened lingo that people now use now, such as lol or smh, have changed the way people write which overall affects the understanding of writing. The last thing would be that it is a lot to easier to write something with the new means of creating(Twitter, Facebook, etc.) and the new ways to write(lol, smh, etc.). The increase of writing with the ease of digital technology expands the boundaries of what writing is. If you count a Facebook post as writing then how does that not change one's understanding of writing since that would have never been made without the means of digital technology today. In the big picture, these aren't major changes in understanding writing, but with writing being such fundamental these changes are enough to alter the understanding of writing.
