Individual Journal - Hunter Becker 3-16-15

Digital technology changes how we perceive what writing is. Over the course of history writing has been a form of communication that includes physical expression of our thoughts such as hand written letters, books, notes, labels, documents, news articles, some pictures, and other hand written aspects. With the recent boom in technology writing now includes aspects of technology that assist it. Items like the internet, social media, phones that have the typing and sending capabilities, and other technologies help share and connect readers to writers and writers to readers. This technology defines writing because this was once not around and now as societies become more technologically advanced the ease of writing and what writing is becomes more and more loose of a definition. Technology increases the modes and abilities of one that can "write". As writing a Facebook post on the internet 60 years ago was completely unknown. All of this spurred from technology. It allows one to "write" on a much broader scale. Digital technology does not so much change writing but it allows it to become and do more as technology and communication increases. Changing what we know as writing, allowing it to be a more loose definition.
