Digital Technology

I do believe that the online world has expanded our definition of what writing is, but I do not believe it has changed it. The simple definition of writing is marking words down, in whatever format you prefer, and composing text. A person could just as easily type up a grocery list as they could write it out on a notepad. If the context of the work is the same, I cannot figure out as to why the definition would be any different. Digital technology simply makes writing and communication easier and quicker, but does not change its substance. The only thing I will say that has drastically changed in the world of writing is a person's skill set. In older times, employers would need to know how legible your writing was and now it's more about how many words you can type in a minute. I think it is just the way that society is constantly evolving to be faster and more efficient brings the idea that how people write has changed so drastically.
