Digital Technology
I think that digital technology changes how we perceive writing. Before cell phones and computers people wrote with the old fashioned pen and paper. Then emails, texting and instant messaging became accessible the craftsmanship of handwriting was long gone. Writing is no longer flowing from the stream of consciousness through a pen and unto the paper, but instead we type words onto a screen which has a different effect then the latter. However digital technology makes writing easier. Mistakes are less common with spell and grammar check and punctuation is always included. Notes, emails, to do lists, and calendar dates are stored on digital devices for easier access. But handwriting is still an art, and there is just a certain aspect of hand written work that is more appealing to the eye that makes it look less electronic and more of a piece of everyday writing.
